The Ottawa River is rich in fauna. For example, over 400 species of wild birds and animals call the lush Ottawa Valley their home. Birds found here include the bluebirds, thrushes, wrens, owls, turkeys, and even the elusive red-shouldered hawk. At its northernmost, the Ottawa river is bounded by the Canadian Shield, whereas it is bordered by the beautiful Laurentian hills at its south. This river harbours clean and clear water from four major river systems. (Ottawa Valley Economic Development)
